Set to be the tallest Passive House development in the world, these residential towers are designed by architect Robert A.M. Stern.
Located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, the twin residential towers of Alberni evoke the city’s rich legacy of architectural excellence. Designed by world-renowned architect Robert A.M. Stern, the buildings feature a modernist limestone facade with intricate detailing. The towers represent a bridge between the city’s past and its future, defined by a rigorous standard of energy efficiency, through innovative sustainable design.

The present, interacting with memories of the past, can create something that can be interesting in the future. - Robert A.M. Stern
The Mason’s Mark (Brand Story)
A man is both the stone and the sculptor. Relative to the brief human life span, stone stands the test of time. Life is like the sculpting process: man patiently works throughout his life to become a true stone, leaving a legacy of his achievements. Stone Stans for the concept of endurance and eternity.
Turning stone into a sculpture is an act of giving meaning. The notion that something is “written in stone” makes it unalterable and fixed. A process of creating a powerful presence.
Timeless, soulful, honourable
Every block of stone has a statue inside it and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it. - Michelangelo
The thing (the philosopher’s stone) is extracted from you: you are its mineral, and one can find it in you.”- Arabian Alchemist Morienus
Two booklets are designed to walk audiences through the 1400 Alberni’s lifestyle.
Project information book - a promotional booklet to express the evolution from past to present to future.
Mood Book - the mood book is a sensorial journey of the mason’s process, a metaphor for crafting the legacy.
We want residents to feel proud and a sense of home. The arrival sequence gives a welcoming feeling, a sign of graciousness that says ‘it’s great to be home’. - Ramsa
A Timeless Legacy
Even from afar, it makes a statement. A singular masonry building standing tall. Juxtaposed from the downtown structures of glass and steel, adding poetry to the skyline and poise to the surrounding streets.
No other modern residence has an enduring story carved into its solid limestone walls quite like this one.
It is bold in ambition, grand in scale and leaves a lasting impression. Not just a home, but a testament to your achievements and part of a timeless legacy that continues to grow.
Welcome to 1400 Alberni.
